Q: When should I aerate?
A: Aerating through the summer months and into the autumn when the soil is hard and dry will enable the full shatter effect of the Aerworx aerator. The machine will not only create slots but break up the compaction leaving air pockets within the soil. These air pockets will hold oxygen allowing micro-organisms and worms to thrive. The more air pockets you can create, the more sponge-like the soil becomes, allowing better water capture and retention, deeper/stronger root development, and ultimately stronger and more productive pastures. In the winter months these air pockets will allow the frosts to go deeper and create natural movement within the soil. These air pockets will then warm up quicker in the spring giving you faster growth.
Q: What size aerator should I use with my tractor ?

Q: When would you use a trailed machine?
Using a trailed machine enables the use of a larger drum for a lower horse power tractor. It also makes it easier and more stable if you have to move the aerator over longer distances between fields across the farm.
Q: Can you front mount an aerator?
Yes this can be done if you wish to perform a 2 in 1 pass, but ONLY for machines designed for this purpose. Our FM320 is a front mounted model - available in different sizes.
Q: My soil type is difficult - can I still aerate?
Aeration is effective in a variety of soil types. From sandy to heavy clay to rocky...to flawless hayfields and rugged terrains. When a farmer is faced with rocky soil, a subsoiling tool is often found to ineffective and counterproductive especially given what we now know about the complex ecosystem, carbon sequestration and effects of soil exposure. With the unique rotating tine system of the aerator, rocky soil is easily worked. It allows producers who have no choice but to work with challenging soil, to improve their soil‘s environment by taking advantage of the aeration benefits.
Q:How do I avoid smearing or bringing up soil?
Please refer to our checklist. It's important to spade the ground before you aerate to ensure it is dry enough to get the desired shatter!
Q: I'm having trouble getting the shatter I want
Again, it's important to use your AerWorx Aerator when the ground is dry to get the shatter effect. Use the AerWorx Checklist above but remember:
WEIGHT + SPEED = KINETIC ENERGY = SLOT & SHATTER!
"The faster you go..the better the penetration! "
